Lavy Family update

A little update on the new family here @ IFM....we have felt all your prayers as the new adjustments have went better than we expected. God is working in the lives of the staff members here and they have welcomed us with opened arms and have helped us through the new things we need to learn around here.

Learning wisdom in discerning all the many needs from trained beggars/or those that really are in need can be a challenge. We ask ourselves "What would Jesus do?" This is Haiti, but is this justifiable according to the Scriptures?

Pray for us in this area.

We do know Christ calls us to love, love comes from the Father and when we accept His love this should pour out of our hearts to others. Many of the Haitian people here are really starving for love. They want acceptance, the immorality shows that.

Pray that they can feel His love and acceptance.

We are learning piti (little bit) of Creole. Enough that we can communicate some, but we have still have a lot to learn.

Pray that we can apply ourselves more into the language.

Our children have enjoyed establishing relationships with the Haitians. There are good influences and bad.

Pray that our children will choose the right paths and influences.

Some-days we can feel inadequate in this calling. But we feel God giving us wings of strength in helping make decisions and when the days get challenging.

Pray that He will get all the glory and praise for the cause of His kingdom.

He is worthy!

“I believe, however, when justice for the poor is connected not to guilt but to grace and to the gospel, this “pushes the button” down deep in believers’ souls, and they begin to wake up. Here is an example of the kind of argument that accomplishes this. It comes from a sermon by a young Scottish minister early in the nineteenth century, preaching on the text “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35):

Now, dear Christians, some of you pray night and day to be branches of the True Vine; you pray to be made all over in the image of Christ. If so, you must be like Him in giving . . . “Though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor” . . . Objection 1. “My money is my own.” Answer: Christ might have said, “My blood is my own, my life is my own” . . . then where should we have been? Objection 2. “The poor are undeserving.” Answer: Christ might have said, “They are wicked rebels . . . shall I lay down my life for these? I will give to the good angels.” But no, he left the ninety-nine, and came after the lost. He gave his blood for the undeserving. Objection 3. “The poor might abuse it.” Answer: Christ might have said the same; yea, with far greater truth. Christ knew that thousands would trample his blood under their feet; that most would despise it; that many would make it an excuse for sinning more; yet he gave his own blood. Oh my dear Christians! If you would be like Christ, give much, give often, give freely, to the vile and the poor, the thankless and the undeserving. Christ is glorious and happy and so will you be. It is not your money I want, but your happiness. Remember his own word, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

We were blessed to have a work team from Cornerstone with us for the last two weeks. They helped us finish painting the houses in Leroux at IFM's earthquake housing project. They also helped us build a house for Delen Pierre, an earthquake victim that moved out here to Fond Parisien.

This is our new sign planted firmly beside Market Street in Shreve, Ohio.

These are the walls and the desk I hide behind all day.
The phone is not properly hooked up yet, I have to stand at the
window and use my cell phone to take care of all the phone calls.

Even though it is small I am very thank for this one and only window in my office,
and last but certainly not least, in the corner you will see my huge filing cabinet.


If you want to see the rest of our new facility you will have to stop-in and 
I will take you on a tour, if you are lucky I might even have hot coffee for you!

Moving to New Heights

Wismith & Becca have become very special to me over the last 2 years. Thanx alot for your friendship & Wismith for all the cultural lessons you've taught me!

Becca [or Madam Wismith ] is so excited to be moving in to their new house. Tues & Wed. a bunch of us were helping with this n that.

Weldan & Jonny [from Ohio] did lots of hard work to get the place ready. Here they are trying to frame a door in a not - so- straight concrete doorway!

Becca & I working to slide in some of the pieces of glass for the windows.

This welded platform that the guys are unloading was put up close to the ceiling to support the water tanks that will supply the house with water.

Wismith & Becca's house is on the second story. {On top of what will be the vocational school.}This gives the whole house full sweep of the refreshing breezes that are almost constant up here in the 'boulay'. There is a metal stairway that goes down on the side of the porch where the guys are standing.
