NOU TOUNEN PWASON! ( We are turning into fish!)

Yesterday a bunch of us went to Jimani to run the normal errands, however the border crossing is getting more difficult all the time. The water from the lake is steadily rising and has now taken over most of the road.

In some places the water comes up over the front lights of the big tractor trailers.
Here we are going thro the second set of gates that are nearly being swept away.

A convoy of UN vehicles navigating through the 'lake.'

Man's feeble efforts do little to reconstruct the roads and battle against the rising lake. They continuously try to rebuild this road, but to now avail - now they are raising it a few feet higher. We ladies took a little walk n picked some flowers while we waited on the guys to fill the propane tanks. After that we picked up milk and eggs and our new little puppy Scooby-Doo:)

On the way home then, it began to rain. A steady, very cold drizzle!! BRR!! Then we had to wait at the border for Matt & Alicia who came over on the bus. Traffic jams, honking horns plus the rain, then suddenly the back of our truck was filled up with desperate people, chickens and a dog, that wanted a ride....all were a part of the border crossing. We were a very cold, soppy bunch by the time we finally got home 2 hours later!
